DetailedDescStart This is the main galaxy catalog constructed for the spectroscopic galaxy clustering analyses. It contains galaxy properties selected from OU-SPE (spectroscopic) and OU-MER (photometric) measurements. This catalog is stored in a FITS file. The second HDU is a binary table extension that contains metadata in the keywords and the catalog in the data table. **Milky Way extinction correction** SELID applies the Milky Way extinction correction to the broadband and line fluxes in the SEL catalog. The corrected fluxes are found in the columns with the `_MWCORR` suffix, for example `FLUX_H_APER_MWCORR` and `FLUX_HALPHA_TOT_MWCORR`. For monocromatic flux, the corrected flux is .. math:: f_{corr}(\lambda) = f_{obs}(\lambda)10^{0.4 k(\lambda)E_{B-V}} where :math:`k(\lambda) = A(\lambda)/E_{B-V}` is the extinction curve. We use the extinction curve from |Fitzpatrick99|_ with :math:`R_V=3.1`. For broadband flux in filter `X`, we use the coefficient :math:`C_X`, and the corrected flux is .. math:: f_{X, corr} = f_{X, obs} 10^{0.4 C_X E_{B-V}} The coefficient is computed as, .. math:: C_X = -2.5 \log \frac{\int T_X(\lambda) 10^{-0.4 k(\lambda)} \frac{1}{\lambda} d\lambda}{\int T_X(\lambda) \frac{1}{\lambda} d\lambda} This calculation is based on a flat reference SED per unit frequency, :math:`f_\nu(\nu)=const`, which gives per unit wavelength, :math:`f_{\lambda}(\lambda)\propto 1/\lambda^2`, and :math:`T_X(\lambda)` is the total instrument transmission curve including quantum efficiency. Using the PLM, filter transmission and quantum efficiency curves in the mission database, we find the following extinction coefficients: +--------+-------------+ | Filter | Coefficient | +========+=============+ | VIS | 2.09 | +--------+-------------+ | NISP Y | 1.03 | +--------+-------------+ | NISP J | 0.702 | +--------+-------------+ | NISP H | 0.474 | +--------+-------------+ Metadata ++++++++ The metadata stored in the Data element of the XML contains useful information about the survey coverage.
