Detailed Description of the Data Product

The DpdNirRelPhotoDetCalibration data product corrects the NIR science frames for photometric detector offsets.

This is a “pure” xml Data Product that contains a list of single detector offsets.

A DpdNirRelPhotoDetCalibration data product for each filter is foreseen.

In addition, a set of metadata is used to describe the validity range.

Processing Element(s) creating/using the data product

The DpdNirRelPhotoDetCalibration is created by the NIR_SelfCalib_Pipeline. This pipeline compare source fluxes extracted in dedicated Self Calibration Field observations to derive detector by detector flux variations offset together with LargeScale pixel by pixel variations tracked by the [to complete] NIR Large Scale Flat (LargeFlat) Data Product.

The task responsible for the DpdNirRelPhotoDetCalibration creation is NIR_Compute (under NIR_SelfCalib project).

Processing function using the data product

This is an internal NIR data product, and it is used only by the NIR PF.

It is applied by the NIR_apply_relative_calibrations task (under NIR_RelativePhotometry project) inside the NIR_ProcessField_Pipeline. The task writes the photometric offset and corresponding error in PHRELDT and PHRELDTE keywords respectively on detector headers of scientific images.

Data Product structure description

The main elements inside the Data section are:

  • Filter: The filter name (e.g. NIR_Y, NIR_J, NIR_H)

  • ValidityRange: Calibration file validity period estimated

  • CorrectionFactorList: a list of single detector correction factors
    • Value: detector photometric correction factor

    • Error: detector photometric correction factor error

    • DetectorId: detector Id
