IntroductionΒΆ
The SPE Processing Function is in charge of measuring the redshift of galaxies observed with the NISP spectrograph. In addition to the redshift an estimate of the accuracy and reliability of the measurements will be provided. To complete the process, a measure of several spectral features is performed.
Inputs to the SPE Pipeline are cdecontaminated and wavelength and flux-calibrated 1D combined spectra provided by the SIR Processing Function. This SIR product is defined over one MER tile (as defined by MER Processing Function). A MER Final Catalog can be provided as optional input.
The SPE PF produces the SPE PF output catalog product. This SPE product is also defined over one MER tile.
For convenient purpose, the SPE output results are split between 6 catalog files.
Classification catalog contains the probability for each object to be a star a galaxy or a QSO
Redshift catalog contains the spectroscopic redshifts and their associated error and reliabilty
PDF catalog contains the estimated redshift PDFs (Probability Density Function)
Lines catalog contains the spectral line measurements
Absorption Index catalog contains the measurements for absorption indices and continuum features
Models catalog contains the spectrum model parameters
